While other tech company are making bigger phones, Apple seems to be taking a little bit of a step back and is rumored to be releasing a 4-inch iPhone. It's most probably an iPhone 6s mini.
According to Forbes, the news emerged after a Chinese site MyDrivers revealed the specifications of a new iPhone that is going to be really impressive. MyDrivers last year leaked the different chipsets used in different 6S models which was later confirmed by Apple.
The reports says that this iPhone 6s mini will have a 4-inch 1136x640p display. It will feature an Apple A9 chipset, 2G of RAM and 1642 mAh battery. The specs are actually a combination of what's in iPhone 6s, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. No details have been provided yet about the camera and whether it will also include the 3D Touch.
Further to the MyDrivers report, the new iPhone will utilize the 2.5D slightly curve glass used in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus so it will look more like them rather than the iPhone 5c which is flat. There's still a possibility though that this is the rumored iPhone 6c.
iPhone 6s mini is going to be better performing and more powerful than its predecessors. Having the same chipset and RAM but reduced display size, this new iPhone has better performance and longer battery life.
Whether it will be named iPhone 6c or iPhone 6s mini, the new smaller iPhone looks promising particularly in terms of performance and price. MyDrivers say that its price will start at around $615 (4,000 yuan) for 16 GB model. Specific release date is yet to be revealed but rumors have it that the mass production will begin in January or February.
In a related Apple news, the iOS 9.2.1 has already gone into beta test just a week after iOS 9.2 has officially been released.
