Comic Book Movie reports that the last appearance of "Firestorm" in "The Flash" was in Season 2 episode 1, when he sacrificed himself to help up Barry close the Singularity that was happening in Central City. But then, it seems that he will be back as mid-season returns this Jan. 19, 2016.

Screen Crush says that the return of "The Flash" season 2 will focus on Earth 2. Thus, some characters that were believed to be gone in Earth 1 will be seen in the second version of planet.
The CW teases Robbie Amell's return, suggesting that he will appear in the show as Ronnie Raymond's fiery alter-ego in Earth 2. There has no official confirmation, but the picture that was posted in the twitter account of Canadagraphs looks like a confirmation of what will be expected in the upcoming episodes of "The Flash" season 2.
Since the plot of "The Flash" season 2 reveals the setting on Earth 2, it is reported that the team of Barry Allen will be seeing their alternate selves.
The upcoming episode titled "Potential Energy" has its synopsis out in the internet. The description reads: "JOE AND IRIS GET TO KNOW WALLY - Now that they've grown closer, Barry (Grant Gustin) considers telling Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) that he is The Flash. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) try to get to know Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), and the team hunts down a meta-human who can slow time itself."
