"Vikings" season 4 will still have a lot of war in it but this time it would be between two brothers. Rollo is set to betray Ragnar, while Bjorn fights beside his father and becomes a warrior capable of leading their small kingdom.
The latest video preview released by the History channel for "Vikings" season 4 focuses on one of the show's main themes for this particular story arc, betrayal. Viewers are already aware that Rollo (Clive Standen) has always had the thirst for power and it would seem that he will do anything to gain it even if it means he has to turn his back on his own blood.
Because of his ambition, Rollo remained in Paris after they attacked it. It is already obvious that he will marry Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski) to align himself with Emperor Charles (Lothaire Bluteau) of France. Rollo will do the Emperor's bidding and although this would mean he has to kill his own people, the Viking does not seem to show any remorse.
The fight against his brother may just be the last war for Ragnar (Travis Fimmel). It has been set in stone that this season is the last time fans will see Ragnar and with a Viking warrior as brave as he is, there is no other way to go off than be killed in battle.
The video has, again, not so subtly, hinted on this one as the Seer says, "You mean after the death of Ragnar" as a reply to Aslaug's (Alyssa Sutherland) inquiry of whether or not a woman will rule Kattegat.
Like the last video preview, the new one also implies the growing power and sense of leadership of Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), Ragnar's son. The people of Kattegat will definitely follow him if he takes over his father's leadership once Ragnar passes away.
The new trailer also shows the ambitious, almost mad, King Ecbert (Linus Roache) and his attempts to extend his territories. The Wessex ruler will become an even bigger threat to Ragnar and Kattegat in the new season.
On Feb. 18, "Power will be built in blood" as "Vikings" season 4 premiere airs on the History Channel at 10PM ET.
