Before Duncan Jones started working on "Warcraft," Blizzard, the game developer, had a few meetings with other filmmakers hoping to helm the movie adaptation of the popular PC game.
Cross Map reported that Jones is lucky to have been picked to direct "Warcraft." "When I went to talk to Chris Metzen and the guys at Blizzard (Developer of World of Warcraft), we both saw things the same way," the director revealed. He went on to add that the film focuses on heroes from both the orc and human sides while they try to dodge a pending conflict when there seems to be no other choice but to go to war.
"I hope that with our film, the audience will get a chance to see past the Horde/Alliance divide and recognize the heroes on BOTH sides!" the 44-year-old filmmaker reiterated.
It is not just the orc-human balance Jones focused on. He also made a conscious effort to break sexism by incorporating empowered women characters, which is quite uncommon for film and gaming with a theme similar to "Warcraft," Venture Capital Post said.
"Warcraft" is a film heavy on CGI and with that said, the crew working on its special effects is the same one working on the "Star Wars" movies. Jones guarantees that with this team, viewers will not be disappointed with the outcome of the film.
Travis Fimmel, who plays Sir Anduin Lothar in the film, also talked about the computer graphics part saying that the visual effects will be brilliant that fans of the "World of Warcraft" game will love what the team did to it.
The "Vikings" actor also talked about the fight sequences and compared it with the scenes for the History Channel hit TV series. Fimmel said that wearing the "Warcraft" costume is like carrying a table so it was a challenge to be light-footed in the fight scenes. The movie emphasized a lot about the visuals and so fighting skills should be in accordance with the special effects.
"Warcraft" will hit theaters on June 10, 2016.
