Harvard Innovation Lab Designs Tiny Houses For Weekend Getaways On A Super Tight Budget

Tiny homes were the trend in the later part of last year and it looks like it's going to continue this year. Harvard Innovation recently designed tiny homes which will be good for those people who wanted to enjoy a weekend getaway on a very tight budget.

Harvard Innovation Lab launched their hospitality startup 'Getaway' which is said to shake up the routine by offering tiny homes for rent. They said that these houses were built in the middle of the forest which is a really great place to unwind from their stressful urban living and demanding corporate work.

This project is founded by two Harvard graduate students with an aim "to provide an affordable way to disconnect from the daily grind." Jon Staff, the CEO of Getaway and a Harvard Business School student, said that he already sees the potential of these tiny houses as a future tourism tool.

"Relaxing in the forest reins in the temptation to take day tips or shop, leaving guests to unwind. It's like camping, but with the creature comforts of home," the report said.

The entire measurement of the house will be around 16 square feet which is really considered tiny if you compare it to the regular sized homes.

"We really want you to do nothing at all," Staff said.

The exact location of these tiny houses is kept secret. They just said that these are located in the Massachusetts woods. The guests can rent these houses for $99 per night.

Harvard Innovation Lab also shared some images of the tiny homes. First image shows Ovida, the first tiny home designed and built. The unit is located at an undisclosed lot two hours outside Boston. In this way, it can really offer total privacy to occupants.

"It's far enough [from the Greater Boston Area] that you can feel disconnected ... but near enough that you don't spend all your time getting there," Staff mentioned.
