Pantone colors are set to dominate not only the fashion industry but the home decorating scene as well. Serenity and Rose Quartz were initially believed to be the top choices when it comes to pantone colors for 2016. However, as January is about to end, Marigold is reportedly starting to become the dominant Pantone color of the year.
Elle Décor is reportedly crushing hard on the pantone colors for this year. The color Marigold is a tangerine-ish shade of yellow and orange and has frequently appeared in several places like the Golden Globes, making many wonder if it might actually be the pantone color of the year and not Serenity and Rose Quartz.
US First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez and America Ferrera have been seen rocking the sunny hue in several events this January. Lopez and Ferrera graced the red carpet in this week's Golden Globes wearing gowns in the said color, and they were absolutely stunning during the event. The first lady, on the other hand, was wearing the same hue at the State of the Union address, a Narciso Rodriguez frock that became so popular it sold out in stores before President Barack Obama's speech was even over.
Mindy Kaling also shared a picture of herself on social media with a dark marigold top dress, confirming that marigold is indeed making waves in Hollywood and Washington, D.C.
As for home décor, marigold works well with the contrasting hue of army green, turquoise and some fierce tiger prints.
Earlier this year, Pantone released a number of design schemes and colors that will grace the fashion and design industry this 2016. Two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, topped the least due to their welcoming colors and prominent appeal. When blended together, the two hues create a balance as the color of tranquil blue gives off a soothing sense of peace and tranquility in any dwelling.
However, with marigold finding its way around Hollywood and even politics, it will not be a surprise if it tops the list as the most favorite pantone color of the year for 2016.
