Andy Warhol's Beachfront Property Sells for $50M

Andy Warhol the man celebrated for taking the lead in visual and pop arts has his home listed for sale.

Andy's career began from being an illustrator on women's magazines, alter in he used the money he earned from illustrating to creating his own factory by purchasing a loft in New York and created industrial art. It wasn't long after his work began to be popular among modernist, hippies, aspiring actors, journalist even drug addicts gave him some respect for what he does. He later branched out to music and movies. It was in the films where he met Paul Morrissey, who directed some of his early films.

It was in 1972 at the peak of his career where he and Morrissey decided to invest in this beach property. It was a 3,800 square foot main house of 6 cottages, 9 bedrooms and 12 baths. The house totaled to almost 15,000 square feet.

Warhol's celebrity guests who enjoyed his hospitality were Liza Minnelli, John Lennon, Liz Taylor, Mick Jagger, Lee Radziwill, and Jackie Kennedy offering them a nice place to visit and party with wide ocean views.

Warhol's beachfront estate was first purchased by himself together with Paul Morrissey. They bought it back in 1972 for a price of $225,000. Now the compound's most recent owner is Mickey Dexler, CEO of J. Crew. He bought the property for $27 million back in 2007.

The house now does not contain any of Warhol's paintings but his property has been listed before at a price of $85 million. The former buyer known as Adam Lindermann did not continue with his purchase back then. The man was known to have been the founder of a Gallery called Venus Manhattan. It was also said that he is a major collector of Warhol's paintings and that made the property significant to him.

Paul Brennan of Douglas Elliman was the listing agent for the property who was able to close the deal for the property for a value of a whopping $50 million.
