US Cities to Design 'Missing Middle' Architecture to Ease out of the Affordable Housing Crisis

The housing shortage has been felt by a number of Americans across the country. Due to the ongoing housing crisis, US cities are planning to design the "Missing Middle" architecture to get their way out of the affordable housing crisis. The "Missing Middle" architecture could ease rents.

The term for house design that popped out in the field of architecture is the "Missing Middle." This design has not been used in the country for several years.

This kind of house allows more Americans to build real estate wealth if they do know this "Missing Middle" design. The term was taken from the logic of the military housing which is cheap but quickly built. Most of these types have been inspired from the World War II houses that are relatively small for around 1,000 square feet and architecturally plain which were also used until the late 1980s.

To those who are still unfamiliar with this design, it is a type of house design in which the housing consists of multi-units such as duplexes, fourplexes, bungalow courts, and even mansion apartments which are not really big. Usually, this is located in the middle of the city or in a walking distance to shops and different amenities. Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands are still adapting this kind of design until now.

Since the US have not been used to "Missing Middle" housing in the last three decades and the people are demanding for detached large-scale houses especially the young families or generally the young groups, the uncontrolled demands were the root causes of the housing shortage and the inability of the people to afford new housing property of today.

The suggestion of rebuilding the "Missing Middle" housing units were still under discussion as of now, but the Americans should be ready to the decision whether or not to stay on these houses. It's up to them to choose being homeless or just stay in this house. They should adapt to the lifestyle of the older generations like staying to these kinds of properties.

"Missing Middle" architectural design is also said to be the most effective remedy for serious housing market issues like the one the US is facing now.
