Luxury Homes: 5-Story Underground Mansion in Los Angeles Relisted at $53M

A five-story underground mansion in Los Angeles, which is one of the most popular luxury homes in the state, has been relisted on the market at $53 million.

According to Robb Report, the 53-acre real estate property is back on the market after originally getting listed in 2013. This unique lavish mansion was then listed for the same price. Five out of the six levels of the mansion are underground and although this almost too extravagant property is known for its subterranean details, no living quarters could be found in any of the five floors.

All the nine bedrooms of the Rolling Hills estate are found on its main level. Extra rooms with different features are what can be found underneath, like the tennis court which doubles as a ballroom. It is found 50 feet under the main floor. During parties, the court gets converted to a neo-classical ballroom.

As if the awe-inspiring ballroom/court is not enough, one of the lower levels contains an outrageous 10,000-square-foot spa with a reflection pool bordered by hand-carved sandstone arches. This particular feature of the home is Moroccan-inspired all throughout, from the pool to the massage rooms and spas which have different themes based on color.

If there is one thing that should be lauded about the famed mansion, it is how intricate the details in every corner of the property are done. Yahoo reported that owner John Z. Blazevich had hired thousands of master artisans and craftsmen from countries like Morocco, Spain, Portugal and Italy to work on the property.

The design was created by Raphael Manzano Martos, known as a royal architect in Spain who has restored many of the country's grand palaces. Such a mansion with so many complex and sophisticated details took around 17 years to complete.

The visible lot of the property contains not just the main level of the mansion but also a separate guest house, another less extravagant pool, a tennis court and a beautiful courtyard.
