Ever since Scoot McNairy's casting in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was confirmed last year, movie fans have been wondering which role the will actor play. And now, recent rumors have indicated that McNairy will be playing the character Jimmy Olsen.
According to Heroic Hollywood, last year a website called "The Devils' Eye" first broke the news of McNairy playing the "Daily Planet" photographer and investigative reporter, but with a twist. . Aside from being a newspaper reporter/photographer, Jimmy Olsen was also a friend to Superman. Now, sources told Heroic Hollywood that the information is correct.
The source added that McNairy's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" character was present during the "Man of Steel" Black Zero event, wherein he was one of the victims and lost his legs after being pinned under falling building rubble.
The Heroic Hollywood report also mentioned that a quick snap of McNairy was shown in the movie trailer released during the San Diego Comic Con. The picture featured McNairy sitting at the side of the courtroom, looking at Superman as he approached the Senate bench. This scene was when Superman was called in following the climatic events of "Man of Steel."
A previously leaked photo which showed the actor wearing a pair of green socks also led fans to believe that McNairy will be playing the Flash, reports Geeks of Doom. However, the casting of Ezra Miller for the role dispelled that rumor. Given the latest Jimmy Olsen rumors, McNairy's green CGI socks now makes sense, especially since the "Daily Planet" reporter/photographer reportedly lost his legs. The site also added that it would be a great change for the DC comics character, who has been part of the Superman series as a newspaper photographer for such a long time.
Warner Bros. have yet to confirm or deny the McNairy-Jimmy Olsen rumors. Movie fans would have to wait until further announcements are made or for the movie's release to confirm the news.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is scheduled to hit movie theaters on March 26, 2016.
