This week is turning out to be an exciting period for "Star Wars" fans. Aside from the Kylo Ren reveal that director J.J. Abrams unveiled earlier this week, the latest teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" showed a short clip of Finn fighting with the mysterious Kylo Ren.
The official "Star Wars" Instagram account released the teaser clip Thursday, which featured actor John Boyega's Finn character wielding a blue lightsaber as he fought off the Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, reports E!News. Driver's character in the clip was holding a red lightsaber. However, the scene may not be new to "Star Wars" fans, given that it was already featured during a previously released trailer. In any case, it is still interesting to see, wrote the entertainment site, especially since Kylo Ren's saber has a new cross design.
Last December, E!News reported the TV personality Stephen Colbert tackled that subject during his "The Colbert Report" show last year. Colbert described it as a "lightsaber with two mini lightsabers on it. It's a ménage à sabres."
Meanwhile, Finn's blue lightsaber is reminiscent of Luke Skywalker's blue weapon, states The Verge. The site noticed that the model looked identical to the original lightsaber which Anakin Skywalker handed down to Luke. However, the blue weapon was lost during Luke's battle with Darth Vader in the movie "The Empire Strikes Back." The origin of the blue blade is still unclear although fans are hoping to learn more about it in the forthcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
In other news, "Star Wars" fanatics won't need to worry that they would have to endure long lines at the cinema when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is released in December. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney's "Star Wars" reboot will take over Imax cinemas in North America and most of its foreign screens during the first four weeks of the movie's run. Imax Entertainment CEO Greg Foster declined to provide further details about the arrangement, although he did express confidence in the project. Foster said that the "Star Wars" film is the "ultimate crossover movie." He added, "It crosses over to everyone."
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit movie theaters on December 18.
