Google Nexus Update, Specs, Price: Huawei Nexus 6P is First Device with 128GB Option

One of the Nexus phones that Google will release in its Sept. 29 event is the Huawei Nexus 6P phablet alongside LG Nexus 5X and a new chromecast.

The new Nexus 6P device will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacity options which is an upgrade compared to last year's Motorola Nexus 6 that offered up to 64GB storage, Tech Times reported.

The two new Nexus phones will be the first ones to be running the new operating system of Google, Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The 128GB capacity of the Huawei Nexus 6P is currently the maximum storage offered by a smart phone and would be the first Google developer to be equipped with such high capacity. It is rumored that Google’s next flagship phablet will not feature a microSD card slot for additional memory since the recent Nexus devices do not offer that feature in their previous releases.

The high-memory capacity of this new phone shows the trend that flagship devices are trying to avoid 16GB as its lowest storage and are venturing into expanded memory options. To compare, Motorola-made Nexus 6 released last year had 32GB and 64GB options while other high-end devices that were released this year started at 32GB capacities like the Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5, the LG G4 and the HTC One M9, Tech Times noted.

With more storage capacity, users will be able to use more apps as well as music, video and photos in their phones. For every additional memory capacity tier, a price premium of $50 to $100 will be added, The Market Business reported.

The Nexus 6P is rumored to include specs with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, and 5.7-inch QHD display, according to GSM Arena.

Meanwhile, the LG Nexus 5X will be available with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage which will be released with the new Google chromecast, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, new Nexus TV or Nexus Player, Got to Be Mobile reported.
