Nakaba Suzuki of "The Seven Deadly Sins" manga confirms that its anime series will return on the small screen in 2016. The official anouncement comes with a 15-second ad after the final episode of "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" TV anime.
Crunchyroll reports that "The Seven Deadly Sins" will have its new season for a 2016 run in Japanese television. This had been announced right after the last episode of the TV Anime "The Heroic Legend of Arslan." However, there are no additional details yet after the 15-seconds commercial., but fans were told to be updated via its official twitter account.
Anime News Network, on the other hand, has additional information about the upcoming season of the anime series of "The Seven Deadly Sins." So far, what has been revealed to fans are the returning staff including its returning cast. This manga that has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine will still have Tensai Okamura as the anime's director. Shôtarô Suga will also come back to handle the series composition, and Hiroyuki Sawano will score the anime series. Other returning staff also includes Keigo Sasaki as Character Design/Chief Animation Director, and team A-1 Pictures for the anime series production.
As for the voice actors of "The Seven Deadly Sins" anime series, Yuuki Kaji will still give life to the character of Meliodas, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ban, Aoi Yūki as Diane, Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth, Mamoru Miyano as Gilthunder, Misaki Kuno as Hawk, and Jun Fukuyama as King.
The publisher of the manga in North America, Kodansha Comics, reveals how the story begins. It says that the "The Seven Deadly Sins" are sent into exile because they have been accused of bringing down the monarchy. However, Princess Elizabeth has discovered the truth, that the Sins are only framed by the Holy Knights (the king's guard). She new fears that it's already too late to prevent the plan of the Holy Knights to assassinate her father, and that the guards would eventually seize the king's throne. Princess Elizabeth runs away from the palace, and she will seek help from the Sins to help her recover the kingdom. In her journey, she would first meet Meliodas, who ironically doesn't have a real sword and only works as an innkeeper with a talking pig-- then the adventure of the Sins begins.
On a different note, a report says that the first season of the anime series of "The Seven Deadly Sins" had been broadcasted in Japan in October 2014 with 24 episodes. The upcoming volume of manga will have a bundled edition with 2 original video anime.
