Warner Bros has an update on the upcoming "Death Note" Live-Action film. The studio announces that Nat Wolff has been cast. Death Note is an adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's manga.
Anime News Network states that Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. is in its final negotiations with the "The Fault in Our Stars" and "Paper Towns" star Nat Wolff to join the cast of "Death Note" live-action film. News says that the character of Wolff in the movie, which is adapted from the famous Japanese supernatural psychological thriller manga, is still kept under wraps, but appears to be obvious to a fan of the manga. A brief description of his role states, "a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim's name." Variety further says that Wolff's role will "compete with a reclusive police officer."
Comic Book has confirmed and divulged more details of Death Note than the others. In its news article, it has already revealed the name of the character that Nat Wolff will be portraying. According to the source material, Wolff is playing the character of Light. The plot of the live-action film adaptation revolves around Light who found "a mysterious supernatural journal that kills anyone whose name is written inside of it. This leads to a game of wits between Light and a reclusive police detective."
According to Comic Book, production will start in Spring 2016. The Warner Bros. Live-Action "Death Note" film will be helmed by the director of "The Guest" and "You're Next", Adam Wingard. The scriptwriter of "Fantastic Four" Jeremy Slater will pen the script of the live-action adaptation of the manga.
