Gear S2, the newest smartwatch from Samsung, has raised a lot of interest because of its diverse compatibility. More Android phones from OEMs will also be compatible.
Gear S2 smartwatch was made available in the U.S. market on Oct. 2, Friday, however, only its Dark Gray variant will be all set for shipping in a few days as the silver and classic variants shall take three to four weeks before they are shipped. Even so, customers may order any of the three variants straight from the website of Samsung.
Gear S2 Dark Gray or Silver costs $299.99, while Classic variant Gear S2 cost $349.99.
Samsung Gear S2 Bluetooth types of are now available for purchase, while the 3G designs are still filed in a "coming soon" description.
Samsung Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Classic, not the Android Wear, run the Tizen OS in 1.2 inch round shaped Super AMOLED with 360x360 pixels of resolution. Samsung chose the rectangular form with its initial smartwatches, yet the circular smartwatches have proven its popularity among the consumers.
Gear S2 Classic and Gear S2 Classic will work with the Galaxy series and any Android device with 1.5GB of RAM with Android 4.4 or later.
Both models feature rotating bezels surrounding the display that will allow the users to direct through a user interface and can deal with the infrequent splash because of their water-resistant form. These two are different in the design, with the Gear S2 Classic having the classic watch look, as its name suggests, while Gear S2 will have the futuristic type.
Samsung Gear S2 3G versions will be available for the later part of this year, in the U.S. as well as in more markets worldwide, although the company is yet to make public the information about the availability including the specified price. Meanwhile, the Samsung Gear S2 in Classic variant will only come with Bluetooth connectivity and has no 3G model.
