Not counting the recently reported 9GB day one patch for "Halo 5: Guardians," the Xbox One-exclusive first person shooter title gets its very first expansion.
In the previous report, 343 Industries Community Manager Andy "Bravo" Dudynsky promised, "In just over a week, the next Halo 5 content drop will be here, and with it comes Big Team Battle in Arena matchmaking, brand-new REQs, and a whole ton of juicy vehicular combat."
And 343 Industries delivered as promised. According to Gamespot, the update that just went live today is called "Battle of Shadow and Light" and the best thing about it is that it is free. Apart from the 48 REQs content, the expansion comes with four new Big Team Battle maps that can cater to this newly introduced 8v8 Big Team Battle mode.
According to Halo Way Point, the four new maps namely, Deadlock, Basin, Guillotine and Recurve were made using Halo 5's Forge tools and with inspiration from previous Halo maps. The Forge Tools were missing when "Halo 5" was launched on Oct. 27 but as previously said, the Halo 5's Forge tools will also be back before the year ends.
In the meantime, players can enjoy the 48 new Reqs, including new weapons, weapon skins, armor, emblems, and a new "Shove It" assassination the update "Battle of Shadow and Light" brings to "Halo 5." According to Gamespot, Microsoft has noted that in instances that the REQs don't appear right away, just give it 24 hours or less and it will be there.
According to Gamespot, the "Battle of Shadow and Light" is the first of the many free updates that 343 Industries will give "Halo 5." Players can expect 15 more free multiplayer maps by next summer. If you want to read all the details of this update you may go to Halo Way Point.
