"The Walking Dead" season 6 aired its last episode for 2015 last Sunday, Nov. 29. Entitled "Start to Finish," episode 8 picks up after Alexandria's tower falls and the walkers start their march. In true "TWD" fashion, it was an absolute chaos for the remaining survivors.
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) gets everyone running for safety while he shoots some walkers. Unexpectedly, he gets help from Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh). But she falls and gets hurt, but Rick is able to save her. Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who is pregnant with Glenn's (Steven Yeun) child, is also trying to get to a shelter but walkers catch up with her. She manages to grab a ladder to a watch post and saves herself just in the nick of time.
Meanwhile, Glenn is still outside of Alexandria. He's with Enid (Katelyn Nacon), who is not very optimistic about their survival. Glenn decides to leave her in the hopes of finding Maggie and the rest of the group. Enid eventually decides to follow Glenn and make their way back to the town.
Back in Alexandria, Rick discovers Deanna's real condition. Apparently, she was bitten during her fall. Still, she keeps her pleasant attitude, and talks about how she has lived a great life. She also reminds herself that she's leaving something great behind. She writes a letter for Maggie and Spencer (Austin Nichols) and gives it to Rick. She asks him to watch after them like his own.
"They're your people now," she insists after Rick's hesitation.
On the other side of the town, Morgan (Lennie James) and Carol (Melissa McBride) are trapped in an unfinished house. Carol suddenly disappears, and Morgan finds her downstairs, with Denise (Merritt Wever) and the Wolf. Carol tells Denise to get away from the Wolf, but Morgan puts himself between Carol and his prisoner.
The Wolf suddenly attacks both Carol and Morgan. Denise begs him to spare her life, but the Wolf is intent to kill her. Thankfully, Tara (Allana Masterson), Rosita (Christian Serratos), and Eugene (Josh McDermitt) break in and buy her more time. But the Wolf takes Denise as hostage and walks out.
Finally, Rick's group decides on a strategy to try to escape the walkers. They cover their body with guts and manage to conceal themselves. They are forced to leave the injured Deanna behind, who shoots as many walkers as she can before they take her down.
The episode ended with more than one cliffhangers. The final scene showed Rick's camouflaged group walking amidst the walkers. Just as viewers expected them to make their way, Sam (Major Dodson) called for his mom and drew unwanted attention.
And, since the cameras did not really capture Deanna's death, many fans are left wondering if she actually died. Since Glenn's presumed death on episode 3, fans have learned not to assume anything until the obvious is shown.
Deanna is Alexandria's former leader. Her character is based on Douglas Monroe in the comics. According to ComicBook, Douglas was killed off in issue number 83. He died as the safezone's walls fell, but he managed to kill some walkers on his way out. While the scene was slightly different in the TV series, many fans are convinced this is indeed the end for Deanna.
As previously reported, a special teaser was shown during the post-credits scene. It showed Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Daryl (Norman Reedus) as they were on their way back to Alexandria. They encountered a group of bandits who confiscated their belongings, including their vehicle and weapons.
"Everything now belongs to Negan," one of the guys exclaimed, confirming the villain's arrival after the show's short break.
"The Walking Dead" will be taking a midseason break and will be back with episode 9 on Feb. 14, 2016. Watch the prologue scene below:
