Aquaman is just one of the few DC superheroes who will be featured in a stand-alone film in line with the upcoming "Justice League" movie. As early as now, details about the film production are being released online.
The "Aquaman" movie has already been confirmed by Warner Brothers and is currently in its planning stages. Jason Momoa, who will play the superhero both in "Batman v Superman" and "Justice League," is set to star in the 2018 DC superhero film.
According to Science Fiction, "Aquaman" director James Wan is already working alongside the new scriptwriter David Lee Johnson. Johnson has recently been added to the film's production after WB reportedly requested a few scripts for the upcoming movie.
With the arrival of "The Walking Dead" writer, it would seem that the search for the perfect script is over since Wan is reportedly able to work well with him. The director's contribution to the story is crucial, and this is why his working relationship with the scriptwriter should be considered as well.
"Aquaman" having a new script means a new piece of information regarding the DC characters that will join the film. Mera, the Queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman - who is also set to appear in "Justice League" - is a powerful superheroine that will be fighting alongside her king in "Aquaman."
Warner Bros. is said to be looking for an actress to play Mera. Although in the DC comics, the Queen is Caucasian, the movie outfit is reportedly searching for a non-white actress. This could be due to the fact that Momoa (Aquaman) is a Polynesian so the production is thinking of finding someone exotic which could be a perfect fit for him.
Apart from Mera, Aquaman will be battling it out with Orm Marius as the main villain in the movie, the Vine Report noted. Also known as Ocean Master, Orm Marius is Aquaman's brother who has been depicted as a conniving blood relative who wants to claim the throne of Atlantis for himself.
"Aquaman" is initiallly slated for theatrical release on July 23, 2018.
