Production of the film version of "Assassin's Creed" is underway in Spain and set photos revealed Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson in full costume.
Pictures from the set of "Assassin's Creed" are circulating around the internet showing a happy Fassbender behind the scenes. The photos confirmed earlier reports that the 38-year-old actor will play two characters in the film adaptation of the Ubisoft game.
With on-set stills surfacing, the German-Irish actor could be seen playing the role of Aguilar, the 15th century ancestor of the main character, Callum Lynch. The assassin is garbed in a costume very similar to that used by the character in the game, a leather gear with a hood.
The "X-Men" star is joined on set by Brendan Gleeson, who plays Callum Lynch's father. In the picture taken, the British actor is seen wearing a maroon, 15th century Spanish costume with a sword in a sheath. However, since the scene is all about the 1600s ancestor, Aguilar, could this mean that Gleeson will also play another role apart from Callum's father?
Aside from Fassbender and Gleeson, Marion Cotillard also signed on to play a role in the game-to-movie flick. Cotillard co-stars with Fassbender in the just released film adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth," which is also helmed by Justin Kurzel, the "Assassin's Creed" director.
The Oscar winner confirmed her attachment to the production but has her lips sealed as to the role she will play, Venture Capital Post reported. With such an award-winning actress though, expect that Cotillard will be given an important role in the film.
The French actress talked about how Kurzel is working as the director of the movie. "Justin is such an amazing director and the love he has for human beings and the way he wants to explore the human soul is the same for an independent movie or a blockbuster movie," Cotillard said. "In an adaptation of such a big video game, he has the same way of working in finding [and] exploring people's souls and hearts."
"Assassin's Creed" is slated to be released on Dec. 21, 2016.
