'Star Wars The Force Awakens' News: Cast, Crew Present in the Media Event Except for Mark Hamill; JJ Abrams' Fans will Love the New Direction of the Film

The premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is less than a couple of weeks away, and we still don't know the entire details about the story, we already know who the old and new characters are in the seventh installment of the franchise.

There was a "Star Wars" event showing the production staff and crew. Disney is noticeably in the event, they asked the press if they wanted the "light side" or "dark side," for their wristband when they entered the venue. Since it seems like a "political decision" most of the attendees chose the "light side," and there was a chance to have a photo op with C-3PO and R2D2. Disney "Infinity Star Wars" video game could be tested by the attendees, items is on display or watch short clips in VR on Google Cardboard. The feel in the event was just like in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.

The event was hosted by Mindy Kaling, who voiced a character in the film "Inside Out." So many significant characters are present in the event. The first group is Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata) Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren, the one's seen holding a crossguard in the first trailer), Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, director JJ Abrams and of course, Carrie Fischer.

The second group involved Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Lucas Film's president Kathleen Kennedy, John Boyega ( Finn) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) . Significantly noticed, Mark Hamill is not in the press con, as well as George Lucas, in the previous report, Lucas said he broke up with the franchise already. Disney rejected his inputs in "The Force Awakens," it is a whole new film already.

Abrams spoke about the original films that Lucas created and how he wanted to bring some of those elements to his new film. (He didn't mention Lucas' new story ideas being discarded in the Disney takeover.)

Abrams talked about the orginal "Star Wars" movies created by Lucas and how he wanted to brings some aspects of those in his new film. He didn't say anything about Disney rejecting Lucas' ideas. He also verified that Lucas has given outlines for the movies before he joined the film production, but Disney wanted to go a different track. That plot Disney wanted was created in the next eight months. Abrams assured that this direction will be loved by fans, although some were left unresolved.
