"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 spoilers tease that in 2016 the show is set to head to something darker and more surprising.
Caroline Dries, "TVD" executive producer gushes to TV Line on what the fans will expect for 2016. To start it off, the show is set to resume season 7 on Jan. 29 and it comes with a "really cool concept episode," says Dries.
With its exciting concept you will be able to ask yourself, "What show am I watching?"
She added, "When you turn on the TV. We'll be dealing with the fallout from the winter finale for a while, both emotionally and plot-wise."
One of the big spoilers that Dries shared was about the new threat in town and it is none other than Caroline's babies. Dries said that Caroline's babies are set to come out sooner or later but they will still go through the standard nine months for the to fully develop. This is despite the fact that they are some magical nature. This is something that the show's viewers and fans will look forward as one of the jump start for next year.
Another thing to look forward to next year is the arrival of a new villain named Rayna who will be portrayed by "NCIS" star, Leslie-Anne Huff. Christian Post shared that Rayna's character is a vampire hunter who is set to bring chaos and problems in Mystic Falls.
Rayna is described as a beautiful, smart, strong, fierce and driven young woman who is ready to do everything to get what she wants and willing to take down those who will get into her way. But what makes her character more exciting is her resemblance to Nina Dobrev. This brought about a lot of speculations that she was cast in the show in order to replace Elena.
It has been reported that Dries is well aware of the resemblance that Huff and Dobrev have as she said with a laugh, "That's definitely just a coincidence."
Dries explained further, "We looked at a lot of actors, and I was like, 'I think she looks exactly like Nina.' I was convinced otherwise. I actually haven't met her yet in person, though, and everyone says she doesn't look like her in person."
She then added, "She's a great actress, and she's perfect for the role. ... We'll get to see her present-day story and then everything will click when you see her in the future."
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 airs Thursday nights on The CW.
