The year 2015 marked the golden anniversary of "Days of Our Lives," and come 2016, fans can expect more thrilling action and bigger storylines. Soap Opera Spy reported spoilers for the coming year that include a wedding, death, and other sneaky schemes that are surely going to be major moments.
Actor Shawn Christian is rumored to be exiting the soap, and his character Daniel is reported to be killed off through a terrible accident, leaving Nicole (Arianne Zucker) devastated. Zucker previously hinted that "DOOL" writers have something big planned for her character in 2016.
"My character was kind of stuck for a couple of years. She was definitely in transition from bad girl to a better version," she said. "I think we're in that land now where the writers are trying to figure out what to do and how to make this character something bigger, stronger -- something!"
Meanwhile, Ava (Tamara Braun) will have a major announcement to make, which could negatively affect Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla's (Mary Beth Evans) relationship. Steve will have no choice but to leave Kayla again, as Ava continues with her schemes.
Hope (Kristian Alfonso) will still be on her road to revenge against Bo's (Peter Reckell) captors, and will reportedly get into trouble. Rafe (Galen Gering) will help her in her crisis, and he will realize that his feelings for her are growing.
Fans have been expecting a Hope-Rafe romance since Bo's exit, and Gering himself hinted of this possibility last November.
"Rafe wants to be there for her right now. Emotionally, to support her and to help her through what is obviously a very challenging time. And we'll see where that goes," he said during a recent "DOOL" fans day.
Another storyline that fans have been following is Abigail (Kate Mansi) and Chad's (Billy Flynn) relationship. While it has been reported that Mansi's contract ends this December, spoilers hint that the actress' "DOOL" journey may not be over yet. According to the spoilers, Chad will eventually propose to Abby, and the two will start planning their wedding.
In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, Mansi spilled that she kept a "wedding planning book" she used for her wedding with Chad.
