How To Fix Three Most Common Android Marshmallow Issues

Google has released Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to address bugs and enhance performance and user experience. The update, however, is only available to Nexus devices. That is unfortunate for those who have been reporting issues because they have to wait a little longer for the fix update to reach them.

Gathered here are three most common problems Android device owners experience with the Marshmallow update and tips on how to fix them.

Installation problems

It is always wise to make a backup of your data before installing and updating your device to the latest version of OS. Although installing the new firmware may take time and would need some patience from the user, there are instances that problems occur during the process. If your device hangs longer during installation, you may have to interrupt it already.

Set your device on Recovery mode and clear the system cache. To do so, hold down Power and Volume Down simultaneously until the robot appears and then press Power and Volume Up for Fastboot menu to appear. Using the volume button, select Recovery and then press the Power button. Select Wipe cache partition and press Power to confirm. Restart your device and try to install the update again.

If the installation issue persists, you may do a factory reset, just ensure you have all your data backed up. To reset, Go to Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything.

Battery drain issues

Unusual battery drain can happen after installing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This could be because of outdated apps on your device. Update your apps to the latest versions so that they are compatible with the new Android OS. Then, wipe system cache following the steps outlined above. You can also wipe cache of each app by going to Settings > Application Manager > Select an app > Clear Cache.

If clearing the cache did not solve the battery drain issue, try to do a factory reset.

Wi-Fi connectivity troubles

If your Wi-Fi connectivity becomes problematic after updating to Marshmallow, toggle the Airplane Mode on and off. You can also turn off the Wi-Fi first and then reboot your device. If it doesn't work try to forget a connection. Go to Wi-Fi settings, select a Wi-Fi network and then press Forget.
