'Homeland' Season 5 Recap: Carrie Reads Quinn’s Love Declaration for Her; Is Quinn Dead?

“Homeland” fans were in shock when the season finale of the series was aired recently. Entitled “A False Glimmer,” it was filled with action up to the brim, but many were devastated when it ended.

The “Homeland” SERIES’ season finale opened in a Berlin subway with Carrie (Claire Danes) running towards the jihadi Qasim (Alireza Bayram), but she was really after Bibi (Rene Ifrah), who was planning to release the deadly sarin gas. Everybody watching the show was glued to his or her seat because of the massive damage the deadly gas can produce. Carrie was able to stop the gas attack, but both Bibi and Qasim lost their lives in the process, TV Line reported. Quinn on the other hand, was not able to escape the deadly toxic gas. He was in a hospital bed, in a coma, with a permanent brain damage. Even the doctor cannot give Carrie a small amount of good news.

Carrie then reads Quinn’s letter to her, declaring his love for her. The last scene of the season finale shows Carrie, removing Quinn’s pulse monitor, then a bright light filled the room. It was an ending that will be carried along for a time by fans, until the next season starts again. “Homeland” season 5 finale brought mixed emotions to its fan base. They were glad that Carrie was able to thwart off the attack on the subway, but upset at the same time, with Quinn’s demise, presumably.

Much of the debate falls on, if Quinn survives, it will be difficult to have permanent brain damage. He will never be the same agent as before. “Homeland” series actually did that before, during the third season, Nicholas Brody was terminated in Tehran, Ecumenical News reported. Brody was a fan favorite back then, but the show does not care much if it will not be for the story of the show. So far, it has not really affected the show. "Homeland" season 6 will be back in 2016. Many will be waiting for answers.
