Popular K-Pop group EXO is making history yet again for making it to the top U.S. Billboard year-end World Album Artists chart and having the biggest album sales ever for a foreign rookie in Japan.
Billboard has revealed that the favorite Korean-Chinese boy band has taken the No. 7 spot among the top-performing acts on the weekly World Albums Artists chart for Billboard's 2015 chart year for the period of Dec. 6, 2014-dated list to Nov. 28, 2015. Last year, they also made it to the same spot. The band's "Exodus" album is also at No. 8 of Billboard's year-end World Albums chart, the only Korean album that made it to the chart.
This success for EXO in America is highly attributed to the band's "Exodus: The 2nd Album" that was released in April this year. EXO's sophomore LP hit the number one spot upon the launch and made it to No. 95 on the Billboard 200. It generated the largest weekly sales ever for a K-Pop act in the U.S.
And EXO is really approaching the year's end with a bang, making another history for having the highest amount of sales among foreign rookie artists in Japan this year. EXO debuted in Japan this year with its single "Love Me Right ~ romantic universe ~." The debut song has already sold around 187,000 copies, while the male group's "Exodus" album has sold 60,000 copies, Allkpop.com reported.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that EXO is going to have a concert in five cities in America in February 2016. They will perform first in New York City on Feb. 5, then in Chicago on Feb. 7. They will head in Dallas on Feb. 10 and in Vancouver on Feb. 12. The last show will be on Feb. 14 in Los Angeles.
With that, it would not be surprising if EXO will once again soar with success in the U.S. because this will be their first North American tour since their televised debut back in 2011.
Venues and ticket details are yet to be announced.
