News about "Pretty Little Liars" ending after season 7 have caught the attention of avid PLL fans, so the series' creator Marlene King finally set the records straight.
In her Twitter account, the PLL creator cleared reports suggesting that she said the ABC series' last season will be season 7. King wrote, "What I said was 'This Uber A story that starts on January 12 will end when season 7 ends.' I did not say PLL will end. Just sayin 4 real."
A tweet later, the 53-year-old writer/producer said her goodnight to her followers and followed it up with, "Hope we cleared a few things up."
After the "Pretty Little Liars" creator cleared the misunderstanding, Variety updated its interview with her to not mislead the series fans further. In the report, King was asked "how long she'd like for the show to go on" and she answered "at the end of Season 7."
The interviewer further asked her if she definitely wanted "Pretty Little Liars" to end after season 7 and she remarked "Correct." From the statement it may have been possible that King misunderstood the question asked.
A's identity was revealed in PLL season 6A finale. In the said episode Charlotte DiLaurentis (Vanessa Ray) was unmasked as the stalker. It is from there that questions regarding the end of the ABC hit series is near since it would seem challenging to create another storyline after the big reveal.
ABC picked up Season 6 and 7 of "Pretty Little Liars" but it is still uncertain whether the show would continue beyond that. On the other hand, King's twitter statement could entail she has more in store for the characters even if the "Uber A" arc ends in season 7. Add to this, season 6 mid-season finale raked in a lot of viewers making the series one of the more steady shows in ABC's line-up.
"Pretty Little Liars" season 6 winter premiere will air on Jan. 12 on ABC Family, which will be called Freeform.
