Production of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is already underway and rumors that Han Solo will be making his comeback are one of the most talked about.
During the premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in London, producer Kathleen Kennedy was asked regarding the casting of the sequel. Kennedy said that there will be a few cast additions to "Star Wars: Episode VIII" but every actor in the premiere will come back, Ecumenical News reported.
When the producer said "all," Harrison Ford was just right behind her. This caused rumors to circulate that the actor will be reprising his role as Han Solo from the first three "Star Wars" movies released on theater. Fans have alleged that the character may be back through a flashback, or he will totally be back in real time.
Besides the Han Solo speculation, rumors that his daughter will make an appearance in the sequel is being talked about by aficionados, Movie News Guide said. Earlier reports said that Gina Rodriguez of "Jane the Virgin" was in talks to play the daughter. Other names attached to the character include Tatiana Maslany of "Orphan Black" and Olivia Cooke of "Bates Motel."
Meanwhile, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has already started filming in Ireland at the Skellig Michael Island. According to the report, the production has started filming as early as September of this year. The location, some alleged, could be where Luke Skywalker is hiding.
Although J.J. Abrams was lauded by fans with his directorial skills in the just released "Star Wars" film, the director is not coming back to helm the sequel. Rian Johnson of "Looper" will direct "Star Wars: Episode VIII" instead. The production team actually plans to have different directors for the movies so there could be a fresh take on the story every time.
Although the film does not have a final title yet, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is set to be released in cinemas on May 26, 2017.
