"Yu-Gi-Oh!" has been a hit as an anime series and a card game and three new games will be released next year based on the anime series.
Konami announced the release of three new "Yu-Gi-Oh!" games for smartphones, Nintendo 3DS, and PC in 2016. The first game titled "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links," will be released on spring of 2016 for iOS and Android. The titles of the other two games was not revealed yet but one will be slated for release on summer of 2016 for Nintendo 3DS while the other one is an online game for PC that will possibly be out in winter 2016.
The announcement was done during the Jump Festa 2016 which is an annual anime and manga convention by manga publisher Shueisha. No further details about the game were mentioned. Konami also did not mention if the game will focus on the theme about the current anime season, "Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC V" or if it will have an "entirely new game with a new approach," Vine Reported noted.
To recall, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist" card duel simulation game for Xbox One was released on July 30 and PlayStation 4 on July 31 costing US$19.99 for the digital release. This made history since it is the first Yu-Gi-Oh! game for those consoles.
Apart from the series and the card game, "Yu-Gi-Oh!" is also a huge success as it sets an all-time high record for its advance ticket selling for the upcoming new theatrical film entitled "The Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions." The film will be launched in Japan on April 23, and in late 2016 for areas outside of Japan, Anime News Network reported.
Fans who bought advance tickets were treated with a free "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon" card. Around 88,000 tickets were sold in just two days from December 12-13 out of the 200,000 tickets available in 130 theaters in Japan.
Said sales are recorded as the all-time top sales for advance tickets according to the distributing company Toei. A second batch for the advance ticket selling will be held on March 5, 2016, alongside a freebie item which is currently unknown.
