Blake Shelton Hired to Write a Song and Lend Voice To a Pig For 'Angry Birds' the Movie

The new word in town about Blake Shelton is not about his new flame Gwen Stefani but rather his involvement in the upcoming "Angry Birds" movie.

According to GameSpot, "The Voice" host Blake Shelton wrote a song for the animated film adaptation of the popular mobile game "Angry Birds." Moreover, the 39-year-old country singer is also behind the voice of one of the enemies in the franchise, a pig.

For Shelton, it seemed like a surprise to have been offered to be the voice of pig. According to Entertainment Weekly, the coach and singer said on NBC's singing competition "The Voice," "I can write things about myself and my life, but I don't have a whole lot of experience being shot out of a slingshot at pigs." For the country singer, voicing over for pig was sort of a roadblock but he accepted it anyway.

So in the film, Shelton plays one of those nasty green pigs, which are the main antagonists in the "Angry Birds" series. To be more specific he is lending his voice to an "especially country-fried pork chop" named Earl, according to Entertainment Weekly. "They kept saying, 'More country!'" Blake said. "I felt like I was doing a voice-over for Dukes of Hazzard."

The film adaptation of "Angry Birds" will feature voice talents of actors like Jason Sudeikis ("Horrible Bosses 2011"), Josh Gad ("Pixels" 2015), Bill Hader ("Train Wreck"), Peter Dinklage ("Game of Thrones") and Danny McBride (TV Series "East Bound and Down").

Blake Shelton reportedly played "Angry Birds" a lot even before he was approached to write a song and voice over for a pig for the animated film. He said, "I wish I had a dollar for every minute I lost playing that freaking game, you know? Well, I guess I do now."

"The Angry Birds" movie is scheduled for release on theaters on May 20, 2016.
