A new update has surfaced regarding the character of Felicity Jones in the upcoming film, "Star Wars: Rogue One," the first non-saga "Star Wars" film slated to hit theaters in December.
Jones, along with a number of respectable actors, has been cast to play an important role in "Star Wars: Rogue One." There is very little information regarding the plot and characters of the film.
However, according to Cinema Blend, the 32-year-old actress may be playing a character named Lyra Erso. The report mentioned that a character-double, Gabrielle Fritz was cast. The casting details of Fritz revealed that she is the double for the character named Lyra Erso.
The double character's profile details on a casting website show a picture of her. Fritz bears some semblance to Jones, hence the speculations.
On the other hand, Collider reported that Jones might be playing Bobba Fett's daughter. It is still uncertain whether the famous bounty hunter's daughter and Lyra Erso are the same character. What fans are almost certain about is that Jones is the leader of a group of Rebels based on a photo previously published by the "Star Wars" production.
Meanwhile, other actors confirmed to appear on "Star Wars: Rogue One" include Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), Diego Luna (The Book of Life), Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Donnie Yen (Shanghai Knights), Jiang Wen and Alan Tudyk (A Knight's Tale).
Mendelsohn and Mikkelsen are not in the promotional photo, and since everyone involved in the film is tight-lipped regarding the plot and characters, fans could only speculate that either of the two could be playing the villain in the movie.
"Star Wars: Rogue One" is a film focusing entirely on "a band of resistance fighters" that "unite for a daring mission" of stealing "the Death Star plans." The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy.
