'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Updates: Michael Shannon Clarifies General Zod Rumors

Michael Shannon, the actor who played General Zod in the "Man of Steel" movie finally addressed rumors about his character in the forthcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film.

Two weeks backs, the internet was on fire over comments that Shannon told Vulture about General Zod having "flippers instead of hands," reports Screen Rant. This sparked a deluge of speculations that Shannon's Zod will turn into Doomsday in the film, or a biological weapon that Lex Luthor may have developed and ultimately controlled.

However, all these may be untrue, since the actor has told The Daily Beast that it was a "made-up" answer. Shannon explained, "Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous b------- answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete b------- story, right? But people took it seriously."

Shannon even mentioned that he wasn't in the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie. The actor said, "I wasn't there. It's a really awkward situation-I'm in the trailer for a movie that I didn't work on. The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts. The first film, Jor-El is there even though he's been dead for lord knows how long."

Although the actor may not have been at the movie's filming location, Shannon revealed that he did voice-over work for the movie. "I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it's like that ghost thing. But I don't know if I'm supposed to say that. I get very nervous," said the star.

This definitely put a damper on fans who thought that Shannon's comment about the flipper hands were true. However, Shannon told the publication that Zack Snyder and the movie's team should consider adding it for the film's future releases. He also joked how he's game to put on the flippers and work with Snyder again, given that he's "hysterical and he's a lot of fun to work with."

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is expected for release on March 25, 2016.
