Actor Jason Momoa is set to make his DC Extended Universe debut with his Aquaman character in the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film. However, after the comic book character has been the brunt of many fish jokes, Momoa breaks silence and shares his opinion about the "Aquaman jokes."
Momoa was confirmed to play Aquaman last fall, states Screen Rant, although the details about his character in next year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie has yet to be disclosed. During an appearance at Canada's Fan Expo held in Toronto over the weekend, the actor provided a few hints about his superhero character and told the crowd that he doesn't see his character "bursting out a bunch of jokes" during the movie. This was in response to a fan's question of whether his Aquaman character will be a "chill" superhero versus the seriousness of Batman and Superman.
The "Game of Thrones" actor also asked fans to "wait a little bit" before unleashing jokes about his DC character. He said, "You know, it's cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there's a bunch of jokes about him. But I'm like 'Well... just wait. Let's just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes...'"'
The Screen Rant report also mentioned how the initial character design released by "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director, Zack Snyder, helped to put a stop to some of the jokes about the aquatic superhero. Snyder's costume concept for Momoa's character gave the superhero a modernized upgrade with tattoo markings and touches of Polynesian culture.
Meanwhile, Momoa is excited about his role and even told Entertainment Weekly (EW) earlier this year how the whole mythology of Aquaman is "pretty amazing." He also teased about the character's backstory and that there will be "surprises coming." The actor added, "We don't want to just reinvent it, but [Zack Snyder has] got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I'm really honored to be playing it. I'm excited for the world to see it." Momoa's Aquaman will be introduced in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" before the launch of the DC character's own movie which is scheduled for release on July 27, 2018.
Fans can try to catch a glimpse of the aquatic superhero in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will hit movie theaters on November 17, 2017.
