'Game of Thrones' Update & Spoilers: Ned Stark Returns to the Show; Crew Shoots a Huge Battle in the North

Last week, it was reported that Jon Snow may be alive after all, and is returning for the sixth season of "Game of Thrones." Now, a new report by Winter is Coming suggests that another major character is coming back to the show: Ned Stark, Jon Snow's presumed father and Lord of Winterfell.

The fan site spotted the HBO crew filming in Castillo de Zafra in Spain, where they are believed to be shooting scenes for the Tower of Joy. The tower is known in George R.R. Martin's books to be the location where Ned Stark rescues his dying sister Lyanna, which is pivotal to the whole story. Lyanna was engaged to Robert Barratheon, but was kidnapped by Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and locked up in the tower. This prompts Robert Barratheon and Ned Stark to start a war, ultimately overthrowing the Targaryens.

So, is Sean Bean, the actor who portrayed Ned Stark in season one, returning to the show? The actor insists that his character is dead. In a recent interview with Bean, he said, "I got me head chopped off in the first series."

The fans' pictures are blurry, but close-up stills show fight scenes between a Ned Stark and another character who is believed to be Arthur Dayne. There's also a woman wearing a white dress and a blue shawl, who fans assume could be Lyanna Stark. If these are indeed for Tower of Joy scenes, then these are all flashbacks, and the Ned Stark is played by a younger actor.

Meanwhile, sources for Watchers on the Wall have more spoilers from the show's production in Northern Ireland. A huge battle scene is currently being shot, with actors dressed in armors and carrying weapons. Fans noted some were also carrying flags, whose sigils give out clues as to which houses are involved in the battle.

WoTW identified two sigils being a direwolf and a bear, for the Starks and Mormonts, respectively. They speculated that another flag, orange in color, could be for the House of Hornwood, a known ally of the Starks in the books. According to the fan site, the production team is calling this scene "The Battle of the Six Armies," and it will be an epic battle between all of the Northern houses, presumably led by Jon Snow, to defeat the Boltons.
