'Mario Kart 8' Competition 'Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8' to Air on Disney XD

Mario Kart 8, the Super Mario and kart racing game crossover exclusive to Nintendo Wii U, is making its way to digital cable.

According to IGN, The game will be featured in a show titled "Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8" in Disney XD. The hour-long show will follow eight of America's best gamers who will face famous Youtubers like Andre of Black Nerd Comedy, AtomicMari, Strawburry 17 and SethBling in Mario Kart 8 competition.

Earlier, while attending the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, the company has announced its plans to form partnerships with third parties, according to IGN

Nintendo of Canada general manager Pierre-Paul Trepanier reportedly told Alphabeatic, "In the next few weeks at E3 you'll be hearing about bigger third-party partnerships."

Trepanier continued, "You'll hear in a few weeks about some interesting partnerships. We've already over the past year opened up and aggressively sought licensing deals in lots of different areas. In the video game space you've seen Nintendo characters appear in other game worlds. It's also happening outside the game world, with the Universal Studios partnership that will bring Nintendo to fans and families through theme parks."

This collaboration between Disney XD and Nintendo for "Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8" is most likely one of those bigger third-party partnerships mentioned at E3.

Fans also see this as Nintendo action to further expand its eSports reach. October's Nintendo World Championships 2015 that was featured in Disney XD was a huge success, according to Fortune. And it indeed makes sense for Nintendo to partner with the Cable TV Network to come up with a TV special that features players competing in a super hit game such as "Mario Kart 8"

Disney XD's senior vice president of programming and general manager Marc Buhaj told Fortune. "We wanted to focus on a single game with this special and have a more intimate event."

"Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8" will premiere Dec. 5 at 8:00 p.m. on Disney XD.
