While Samsung Galaxy S6 is reportedly scheduled to receive the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update sometime in January 2016, screenshots of what the latest Android OS would look like in Galaxy S6 have been leaked online.
The screenshots are yet to be proven true. In a report from Sammobile, the leaked photos show some changes on TouchWiz. The toggle panel is now blue and its background is white, but the icons remain the same. The camera, in Pro mode, has shutter speed options. The icons for battery and RAM usage in the Smart Manager are also different.
Samsung is yet to make any official announcement on when Android 6.0 will reach users, but as per Times News (via Android Pit), the leaked timeline for Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout to Samsung devices indicate that Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will get the upgrade first this month. Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will receive the update in January 2016 while Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are scheduled for a February release.
Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Alpha are also in the lineup of devices to be upgraded to Android M, but the status in the roadmap is still "Waiting for Approval." The same goes for Galaxy A8, A7, A5, A3, E7 and E5.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with several key features, such as a more efficient use of battery through Doze that automatically puts your device into sleep when not in use. It also has an App Standby feature that limits the impact of seldom used apps on battery life. Marshmallow also gives the user more control with the App permissions feature and simplified security with the use of fingerprint to unlock the device and make payments on Android Pay and the Play Store.
