The long wait is finally over as Valve has just released patch 6.86 for "DOTA 2." Reports say that it indeed delivered the changes as promised, but the changes still seemed to have stunned many "DOTA" fans. Now that the leaks should be forgotten, the changes pertaining to heroes brought by Patch 6.86 is totally worth a deeper look.
According to JoinDota, prior to patch 6.86 the last hero that was added to DOTA 2 was the Winter Wyvern, but that was 12 months ago. Therefore Valve must have thought it is just about time a new face comes along. Thus Patch 6.86 brings a new "nuke-heavy" carry called the Arc Warden.
As discussed in the "DOTA 2's" Heropedia Arc Warden is a ranged hero armed with powerful skills. It's first skill, Flux, slows down one enemy unit while bathed in strong swirling energy. Then his other skill, Magnetic Field, grants evasion and attack speed bonuses to allied heroes and buildings within the radius of its circular magnetic field of energy. And then its Spark Wraith deals magical damage. But its signature skill is the Tempest Double. This ultimate skill allows the Arc Warden to duplicate himself and his duplicate can use the same items and spells. Once this heroes unleashed its duplicate all available items and abilities are off cool down.
But the Arc Warden is not the only one with new skills to show off. DOTA 2's already existing heroes, have received a few changes here and there but Death Prophet, Faceless Void, Lone Druid, Riki and Doom got some serious overhaul in their abilities aside from having given new ones. For, that those five heroes together with Winter Wyvern have been temporarily removed from Captain's mode. However their absence won't be too long as Valve promises their return to Captain's mode in a subsequent 6.86b/c patch, another update to look forward to.
In the meantime, while these six heroes have gone into a winter hiatus, the patch notes have confirmed that heroes Oracle, Terrorblade and Earth Spirit are now available in Captains Mode. With new heroes added, we can expect to see new strategies. How do you think will "DOTA 2" patch 6.86 will affect the last "DOTA 2" tournament for 2015, the WCA 2015 Global Finals in Yinchuan, China?
