While "Star Wars: The Force Awaken" is breaking box office charts at the moment "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" breaks gaming records by being the number one game in the U.K. in December this year. The game title inspired by the movie "Star Wars" called "Star Wars: Battlefront" and "FIFA 16" trails behind the shooter game.
According to the Independent, previously, it had been speculated that "Battlefront" would hit the number one spot given that the "hype" is on for Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awaken."
But "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," released in November, has proven that it does not need any motion film adaptation to dominate the gaming industry. To show how massively popular "Black Ops 3" is, it reportedly garnered more than $550 million in global sales in the first three days following its release.
According to Eurogamer, the following are the top 10 in U.K.'s Christmas charts:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
2. Star Wars Battlefront
3. FIFA 16
4. Fallout 4
5. Minecraft: Story Mode
6. Assassin's Creed Syndicate
7. Just Cause 3
8. Grand Theft Auto 5
9. Rainbow 6: Siege
10. Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" has also been previously reported to have outperformed other "Call of Duty" titles besides "Fallout 4" and "Star Wars: Battlefront" in terms of sales. "Black Ops 3" is known as the Best-Selling Physical Games in the U.S. for November 2015 with games like "Fallout 4," "Star Wars: Battlefront," "Madden NFL 16," "NBA 2K16," "FIFA 16," "Need for Speed," "Halo 5: Guardians," "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" and "Just Dance 2016" falling behind. "Black Ops 3" has also broken the downward sales trend that Activision has seen starting with "Black Ops 2"
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
