'Final Fantasy IX' Coming Soon to PC, Android and iOS in Japan

It looks like developers at Square Enix have been working non-stop even through the holidays. Not only are they currently polishing the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV," in Japan they are also preparing to release a PC and smartphone version of its year 2000 title "Final Fantasy IX."

According to PC Gamer, "Final Fantasy IX," which was considered the secret best "Final Fantasy" title, is coming to PC, Android and iOS in Japan. The PC version of "Final Fantasy IX" will feature "high-definition graphics, newly added achievements, auto-save, high speed mode, and several game boosting features." Fans of the game can finally reconnect with Zidane, Princess Garnet and some characters in HD. The said announcement was made on its Japanese site but an exact release date was not included yet. There are no news yet if the same would be true for the markets in the west but the publication suggests it is highly possible.

According to Digital Trends, the title was originally released in 2000 for Sony's PlayStation. Unlike the preceding titles (FFVII and FFVIII) that have more realistic looking characters, this installment employed fancy cartoonish characters with big head and little bodies. In the remastered version, the developers have added game boosting features and "Mognet" in-game mail system, together with "Active Time Events" that allows players to check what's happening somewhere else within the game at a certain point in the storyline.

It looks like 2015 has been a very busy year for Square Enix. According to IGN, "Final Fantasy VI" was also recently released on Steam. And just recently, the company announced that "Final Fantasy XV" game is officially on pre-beta stage, with the developers preparing to launch the game this year. Before the end of the year, the company also released a re-mastered 1997 title known as "Final Fantasy 7" for PlayStation 4 and released a gameplay footage and some screenshots of another game in the works "World of Final Fantasy."
