Movie director Bryan Singer has been teasing fans with snaps of the filming set and other updates for "X-Men: Apocalypse." Now, one of his Instagram posts may have hinted at the destructive power of Storm.
Earlier this week, Singer took to Instagram to share a snapshot of a scene where a street is in ruins, with rubble and stones strewn all around the area. Two buildings were destroyed and what appeared to be Egyptian writings were featured on the structures. Singer captioned the photo, "Tip toeing through ruined #Cairo #1983 #xmen #apocalypse." The scene was set against a green backdrop, which could mean that the movie's creative team may be injecting other images on the background.
After Singer uploaded the snap, X-Men fans started to comment on the image. A few even thought that the destruction could have been caused by Storm. One fan wrote, "i think storm did dis" while another commented, "Doesn't Apocalypse have some history in Egypt as well? If so couldn't this have nothing to do with Storm?"
The destroyed Cairo set snap also went viral, with several media outlets reporting on it. Fansided took notice of Singer's Instagram post and mentioned speculation that the ruined street was Storm "giving people a taste of her power." Although, the site mentioned it may be Apocalypse's work also, wherein the villain could have destroyed the city during an attempt to recruit Storm. Even TheMarySue.com wrote that the photo could be a result of "weather damage," given that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take Storm back to her Egyptian roots.
Meanwhile, WeGotThisCovered.com said that it could be "En Sabah Nur" who destroyed Cairo in "X-Men: Apocalypse." The site further mentioned that Singer's Instagram post confirmed the movie's time period as 1983, given the director's hashtag.
The interest over Singer's Instagram post only proves that fans are eagerly awaiting for the movie's release. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to hit movie theaters on May 27, 2016.
