Star Wars, Inside Out and More AFI's Top 10 Movies of 2015

Aside from TV Shows, AFI or the American Film Institute rounded up the best ten movies of 2015.

The film organization kicks off their tradition of honoring films and television shows which have showcased the art form on the big and small screen.

AFI continues to stand out among the rest of the top 10 list found in the media. The movies and TV shows included are chosen by a jury. The organization shared how they are different from the other critics who also acknowledged the beauty of motion pictures.

According to the official site, AFI aims to honor "the collaborative nature of film and TV production and bring together the community’s creative teams, both in front of and behind the camera."

We previously reported on the top 10 list of TV shows of 2015. Some of the notable shows are the freshman series "Mr. Robot," "Better Call Saul," "UnREAL" and "Master of None."

AMC's "Mad Men" received the 2015 AFI Special Award. The series, which ended its final season last May, was awarded for a historic seven times by the organization. It stars Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, January Jones and Elisabeth Moss.

In this year's list, AFI included the Pixar movie "Inside Out" as the only animated feature among the official selections.

The blockbuster sci-fi film franchises of "Mad Max" and "Star Wars" join the list with their own movie sequels, "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
