Barclays PLC to settle lawsuit with FHFA for $280 million

Barclays PLC, the global financial institution announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement to settle a faulty mortgage lawsuit with the Federal Housing and Finance Association (FHFA) for $280 million.

The average long term fixed mortgage rates went up this week as the housing market slowed down a little. The average 30-year interest rates went up to reach 4.33 percent from the 4.27 last week, according to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS).

The famous Gherkin Building at 30 St. Mary Axe, in London has reportedly been placed into a receivership after VG Immobilien AG, owners of the building defaulted on a loan it took to purchase the building.
